An Initiative Brought to you by FASNY

Why Participate

Department participation truly determines RecruitNY’s success. Even departments that don’t sign new members up on the spot attract attention from the community that raises awareness and can eventually yield new recruits.

With all the tools, the support of corporate partnerships and the prospect of a fun-filled weekend for your department, why wouldn’t you participate in RecruitNY?

This website has all the ingredients for a successful recruitment-focused open house. Help grow the fire service by showing the community, state and country what you do!

Here are just some of the reasons you should join us for RecruitNY!

Just Download and Go

FASNY offers readymade resources right here on the website, including downloadable and customizable flyers, posters, yard signs, promotional cards, banners, digital assets and more. All you need to do is get the word out! The site includes checklists and tip sheets to get you started.

Sponsor Support

RecruitNY partners like Price Chopper, Nice N Easy Grocery Shoppes, Hannaford Supermarkets, King Kullen and NYACS support the weekend with signage at their popular stores across the state. This is great exposure for your department.

Media Coverage

RecruitNY involves a multi-layered, months-long media campaign. FASNY targets a wide variety of outlets, including national, regional and local media. Last year, this resulted in more than 50 Associated Press hits in media outlets across the U.S., dozens of broadcast segments and more than 100 print or online pieces, which created more than 9 million impressions. That’s great exposure for the volunteer fire service that resonates year round and raises the profile of your work in the community.

It’s Fun!

This is a weekend to connect with the community you serve and energize your department. FASNY encourages departments to treat RecruitNY with the same effort they would give to a chicken BBQ, pancake breakfast or other community event. This is your chance to get creative. Departments have come up with great ways to engage visitors, including live demonstrations. Organizations like Mercy Flight even offer helicopter fly-ins!
