Event Overview:
The Seaford Fire Department is hosting a community event as part of the RecruitNY initiative to raise awareness about the vital role of volunteer firefighters and EMTs. This event will invite community members to learn more about the life-saving and impactful work of our volunteers and how they can join the team.

Event Activities:
Fire Truck Tours & Live Demonstrations
Visitors can explore fire trucks and ambulances up close, interact with volunteer firefighters and EMTs, and see the gear they use on calls.
Firefighters will demonstrate techniques such as safe handling of fire hoses, extinguishing small fires, and using rescue tools.
Volunteer Info Session & Q&A
A formal presentation will be held at 12:00 PM where department leaders will discuss the duties and commitments required for volunteer firefighting and EMS work.
Prospective volunteers can ask questions about training, schedules, and benefits of serving. A separate session will be held for high school students interested in becoming Junior Firefighters.
Hands-on CPR & First Aid Training
EMTs will offer short CPR and first aid training sessions, allowing attendees to experience first-hand the skills needed in emergency medical care. Participants can learn life-saving techniques and find out how to become certified.
Fire Safety & Prevention Tips for Families
Educational booths will be set up with fire safety tips for families, children, and seniors. Demonstrations will include how to create a family emergency plan, use fire extinguishers, and install smoke detectors.
Recruitment Table & Application Station
A dedicated area will be set up where individuals interested in becoming volunteers can fill out applications and learn about the training process.
The recruitment team will be on hand to discuss the benefits of joining the department, including leadership opportunities, skills training, and the satisfaction of serving the community.
Target Audience:
Residents of Seaford and surrounding areas: Residents interested in helping their community and learning about volunteer firefighting or EMT work.
Families: Those looking to learn about fire safety and prevention.
Local Students (ages 16+): High school students interested in exploring junior firefighter programs.
